Why We Love Evening Primrose Oil

The skin-loving effects of natural face oils come from their rich supply of anti-oxidants and fatty acids. Here is another oil that definitely fits that profile to offer you amazing benefits

Evening Primrose Oil

Evening Primrose is a plant from North America and has been used by Native Americans for a variety of traditional medicines. The oil is extracted by pressing the seeds of this plant and is used for women’s health due to its labor-inducing effects and for relief of premenstrual symptoms when taken by mouth. When applied to your skin, Evening Primrose Oil provides many benefits because it is rich in antioxidants and (omega-6) fatty acids, including linoleic acid (LA) gamma linoleic acid (GLA). These key fatty acids help maintain the integrity of your skin and reduce water loss to keep it supple and moisturized.

The anti-inflammatory activity of this oil helps it calm sensitive skin, and it is used to treated eczema. The linoleic acids found in Evening Primrose Oil also reduce the thickness of your natural sebum, which keeps your pores clear and unclogged and reduces breakouts. The oil is a great moisturizer. Not only does it protect and soften the skin by sealing it to retain water, but it also supplies essential antioxidants and fatty acids with anti-inflammatory properties that reduce irritation to help your skin maintain an even toned appearance.

Why We Love Evening Primrose Oil:

  • Moisturizes Skin
  • Calms Inflammation
  • Great for Oily Skin
  • Reduces Dark Marks and Hyperpigmentation

Hi Lisa, Enlarged pores are usually caused by a combination of excess sebum, which makes them appear more visible and loss of collagen, which causes loss of skin elasticity. Vitamin C is known to help build collagen, and is an active ingredient in our Skin Refining Night Oil. We recommend seeing an esthetician, who can provide you with personalised feedback and can determine if your skin would benenfit from Vitamin C.
